Artist's Statement
My current work in clay is hand built. I am exploring texture and sculpture. I prefer abstract art which doesn't overly determine the space. I like my art to be like background music, not the main show. My geologic forms are suitable to ikebana, and many of the pieces shown in the gallery feature flower designs by my friend, Ellen. Her work is seen at japaneseflowerdesigns.com.
In glass I am also exploring texture. I move back and forth between the two mediums. My dialogue with the interplay between glass and clay is just beginning to develop. A texture I create in my hand built work is repeated in glass, but this time transparent so that the light plays a role.
